How to Use
TsukuBOOK is a platform providing content for extensive reading. It is very simple to use:
- Check out the list of reading materials. Each title has a brief summary. You can also search by keywords or categories!
- Click on a title that interests you.
- Once inside the reading material, you will find it divided into chapters.
- Within each chapter, there are several buttons in the top left corner of the screen:
- Japanese level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
- You can select the difficulty of the reading material. All materials include advanced-level content.
- Intermediate and beginner levels will be provided sequentially. Many intermediate-level materials are already complete. Beginner-level materials are still being prepared, so please look forward to them!
- Ruby On/Off
Furigana is displayed for difficult kanji at the intermediate level and below.
- Highlight
- When you highlight a word or phrase, all occurrences in the chapter will also be highlighted.
- This feature allows you to easily see the word or phrase in different contexts.
- Japanese level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
- There is also a dictionary function, so you can look up unfamiliar words or phrases immediately. Currently, it supports Japanese-English, but we plan to add support for other languages in the future.
Regarding how to use the reading materials, they can be read individually or used in classes—the possibilities are as wide as your imagination. Keeping in mind the basics of extensive reading listed below can help you make the most of it.
Tips for Effective Extensive Reading:
- Read interesting materials. If it's not interesting, find something else.
- Choose materials that are easy to read. If it feels too easy, it's probably just right.
- Don't use the dictionary too much. As a rule of thumb, 2-3 times per paragraph is okay.
- Skip parts that you don't understand or find uninteresting.
